Mobile gaming

Is the gaming experience on the iPhone is better than on Android? many gamers say that’s so primarily because of the buttonless form factor of iPhone, but also because of the superior iPhone graphics. But a panel on mobile gaming at VentureBeat’s MobileBeat 2010 conference today said that’s not the case.

The panel participants all vehemently supported Android over iPhone, although largely because of developer support and the openness of Android’s platform rather than quality. However they also acknowledged several problems with Android, such as payment options, app discovery in the Android marketplace, and fewer categories in mobile gaming.

Well, but what is your opinion?

Best Mobile Games 2009

Posted Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

I’m sure that you have got your own favorite mobile games you prefer to. However here is some of the most p[opular ones.

Zombie Infection (Gameloft)
Try it brilliantly told story of a city in chaos following a zombie outbreak. You take control of a private military group sent in to sort things out, though you’re swiftly separated, and have to play through the ordeal from each member’s viewpoint.

Go!Go! Rescue Squad (Connect2Media)
There are hints of Lemmings in the way you must shunt gormless ‘Darwins’ towards each level exit using your squad of firefighters, and you can’t get a higher recommendation than that.

Pac-Man Championship Edition (Namco-Bandai)
Even more startling is the near-parity between this mobile version and the Xbox 360 edition. Truly a triumphant return.

Mystery Mania (EA)

Mystery Mania is a simplified re-imagining of the point ‘n’ click adventure genre that sees you guiding a charming little robot through a series of self-contained puzzle-rooms.

Tropical Towers (RealNetworks)
What do you get when you cross a rough-and-tumble physics-based game with a gang of monkeys? One of the year’s best puzzle games, that’s what.

The Sims 3 (EA)
The long-awaited return of The Sims didn’t disappoint with this astonishingly well featured third mobile version.

Townsmen 6 (Glu)
The Townsmen games represent something of a signature series for the mobile platform, each version selling like hot cakes and attracting critical acclaim.

The sixth edition is no different, somehow managing to top its illustrious predecessors with a thoughtfully constructed take on empire building.

LocoRoco Hi (Glu)
It took its sweet time reaching mobile, but when LocoRoco Hi arrived earlier in the year it didn’t disappoint. In fact, it turned up full of confidence and ready to roll.

California Gold Rush (Digital Chocolate)
Digital Chocolate continues to make distinctively styled, highly polished mobile games in 2009, with California Gold Rush perhaps representing its finest moment.

Kingdom Hearts GameSpot Score
This is a brief action game with awkward controls that manages to channel only a little of the Kingdom Hearts magic.

Action Role-PlayingSex Xonix
Sex Xonix is the arcade erotic conundrum with smart girls for sweets lovers.
Genre: ActionZuma GameSpot Score. On mobile, Zuma retains all the challenge and addictiveness that has made it one of PopCap’s most popular games.

PuzzleNeed for Speed Underground 2 GameSpot Score
9.2 Need for Speed Underground 2 isn’t just the best racing game ever made for a mobile phone; it’s also a much-needed showcase for V Cast technology.

GT / Street RacingSurviving High School GameSpot Score
7.4
Even though Surviving High School could have used more variety in its design, top-notch dialogue and an involving plot carry it through to graduation.

Women Cell Phones.

Posted Thursday, April 24th, 2008

There are more than 90 million women in the United States who own cell phones nothing to say about incredible number of owners in the world. So the quantity has to transform into quality and that is right. Cell Phones producers have exerted every effort to turn cell phones into a people’s best friend, making the handsets more fun and useful for harried women for instance.

“Women play games just as frequently as men on their mobile phone,” says Kristin McDonnell, chief executive officer of LimeLife Inc., in Menlo Park, Calif. “But they are only one-third of the [game] purchasing market right now, and we think that’s because of what’s out there.”
And so far, the choices from cell phone service providers have been dismal in the eyes of McDonnell and other women. “Right now, a lot of what’s available on the mobile phones are action games, sports games,” says McDonnell. “And we know from our experience – having been in the games industry for so long – that women like word games, puzzle games, card games.”

Jamster, one of the world’s leading providers of digital entertainment, able to reach one in six consumers around the globe, and innerActive Smart Media, a leading provider of innovative ad-funded entertainment channel, have announced a trial of a new Mobile In-Game Advertising service in the UK.
